Offshore Financing

Project Financing
Alvin John & Partners is experienced in the preparation and negotiation of new and innovative financial products in Malaysia particularly in the financing of large infrastructure projects. Such projects include the financing for an IPP (independent power producer) project in East Malaysia and the construction of highways.

We also provide advisory services with respect to bridging and end-financing for project development and property acquisitions.

The firm has worked and advised on public floatation and the issue of bonds, loan certificates, short term and medium term notes, commercial papers and other private debt instruments.
Islamic Banking and Capital Markets
The firm has also negotiated and drafted a hybrid Islamic and conventional fixed rate financing structure for Bank Muamalat Malaysia Berhad.

On securities law aspects, the firm has advised and acted as counsel for Eurobond and Yankee bond issues and other instruments in the USA .and Europe as well as share offerings in Malaysia by multinationals.

The firm has also extensive experience in Islamic banking and Islamic capital market products including Al-Musyarakah, Al-Bithaman Ajil, Al- Mudharabah, Al-Murabahah, Al-Ijarah, Bitaman Ajil with Islamic Debt Securities (“BaIDs”) and Murabahah underwritten notes issuance facilities (“MUNIF”). We are also the first to undertake an Islamic private sector driven asset backed securitisation programme (ABS) in the property sector.
